I just want to thank you again for all of your prayers and support. This is just a quick update since so many of you have asked about next steps. I have met with a team of doctors (oncologist, radiologist, surgeon, geneticist). The best news is that they found the cancer early and it is a very small spot. Since I was high risk for carrying the “cancer gene” they decided to run a full genetic panel on me. The results are in and I tested negative for all the genes. Hooray! So, the next step is surgery. I will have a lumpectomy done on December 22nd. The timing couldn’t be better since Marc will have time off work for the holidays and my kiddos will be home from school and can wait on me hand and foot. They have told me that the recovery is very quick. I will have a few days of rest and a few more days of soreness. Hopefully I will be feeling great in time to bring in the new year with a bang! Most likely I will then undergo radiation for 4 – 6 weeks. There is a chance that they may not need to do radiation but that will be determined once they remove the cancer and run the pathology on the tissue.
One thing I have learned over the past few weeks is how many amazing people I have in my life. Thank you for all the love.
